Wooden Apple computer 1 sold at auction for $ 500,000

The auction, which featured a rare copy of the first Apple computer, raised a record amount for a rare lot. A device in a wooden case, released back in the 70s of the last century, sold for $ 500,000.

The vintage computer was equipped with an original power supply, a Panasonic monitor, proprietary software on two cassettes, as well as a programming manual and an original keyboard developed by Datanetics. According to the description of the lot, prior to the current sale, this PC copy had only two owners.

The cost of the device in 1977 was $ 650, which in terms of the current exchange rate is estimated at $ 2966. The computer case is made of Hawaiian coa acacia. There are only about twenty fully functioning Apple-1 computers left in the world today, according to industry experts. The record amount for which Apple-1 was sold is $ 905,000 – this is how much the original PC was rescued by the Bonhams auction in New York in 2014.
