Last summer the VideoLAN team declared that the aggressive management of activities in the background of Huawei was causing problems in VLC which impossible to play in the background , so he decided to stop downloading the app from the Play Store for Huawei devices.
For some time Huawei’s aggressive policy is no longer enabled by default and some Huawei users have managed to install VLC from the Play Store on Huawei P20 Pro, P30, Mediapad M5 and Mate 20.
The developers of the popular free and open source media player pointed out in a tweet that the change took place a few months ago, but apparently they didn’t feel the need to announce it.
The latest update was released in August 2018 when the VideoLAN team was working with Huawei to implement a fix. At one point Huawei update its firmware and the VideoLAN team decided to remove the block, without however providing an exact date.
