Sharp Aquos Keitai 4 – a new Android smartphone in the form of a classic clamshell

The Japanese company Sharp has released an extremely unusual device by modern standards. The new Aquos Keitai 4 is a classic clamshell, but at the same time it is a full-fledged smartphone running the Android operating system.

Externally, Sharp Aquos Keitai 4 resembles a device from the early 2000s. The device is equipped with a 3.4-inch screen with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. Outside, it has a small secondary display showing the time and notifications.

There is only one camera in the smartphone – with a resolution of 8 megapixels. According to the description, there is no front camera in the device, so there are no video calls.

The device is built on the basis of a budget Qualcomm 215 quad-core processor and is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage.

There is support for microSD cards up to 32 GB. Android version not specified. Responsible for autonomy is a battery with a capacity of 1680 mAh.

Despite the form factor, the phone is IP58 dust and water resistant (fully waterproof) and complies with the military standard MIL-STD-810H.

Other features include a loud speaker, a noise reduction function, and a high contrast mode to improve the readability of sites.

In addition, a key combination starts recording a telephone conversation.

Sharp Aquos Keitai 4 is intended for the Japanese market, and it is unlikely that it will appear somewhere else. Fans of classic folding beds will have to pay about $190.
