Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Next generation Google branded smartphones
Building on the success of last year's Pixel 6 series smartphones, Google has returned to the market with a new lineup of next-generation flagship devices. The phones are designed to compete with some of the latest innovations, such as Apple's iPhone 14 and Xiaomi's 12T family of smartphones.
What's new for us?
Among the many upgrades are the second-generation Tensor proprietary chip, as well as significant camera improvements that promise an even better mobile photography experience.
Google Pixel 7 Pro in terms of design is not much different from its predecessor. Some of the more notable changes include the use of a metal frame for the camera's panel, as well as the placement of its lenses. Of course, the new models also come in completely new color options, making them even more distinctive.
On the front, the Pixel 7 Pro has the same 6.71-inch display as the Pixel 6 Pro. It is based on an AMOLED panel with QHD+ resolution and a refresh rate that intelligently changes from 10Hz to 120Hz based on the content on the screen to extend battery life. The smartphone is equipped with an accurate and sensitive in-display fingerprint scanner and is protected by extra-strong Gorilla Glass Victus.
The main camera of the Google Pixel 7 Pro has three sensors. The main one has a resolution of 50 megapixels, a size of 1/1.31 inches and is equipped with an optical image stabilizer (OIS). The second sensor has a resolution of 12 megapixels and an ultra wide-angle lens. The third 48-megapixel sensor is equipped with a telephoto lens capable of providing 5x optical zoom.
As usual, the Pixel 7 Pro also supports advanced AI-powered camera features, such as the very useful Magic Eraser, which allows users to easily remove unwanted objects from photos, and Face Unblur, which helps sharpen faces even in the toughest conditions. Similarly, other proprietary features have been updated and improved.
Under the hood of the new Pixel 7 Pro is the new Tensor G2 chip, which Google says is 60% faster and 20% more efficient at performing machine learning tasks. This allows the phone to support new features such as Photo Unblur, which makes blurry photos appear clearer.
In terms of memory, the Pixel 7 Pro has 8GB/12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage.
The battery capacity of the smartphone, which supports 30W fast wired charging and 23W wireless charging, is 5000 mAh. In terms of software, the phone comes with a clean version of Android 13 and is guaranteed to receive 3 major system updates and 5 years of security patches.
The smartphone has three color options such as Obsidian, Hazel and Snow. The Google Pixel 7 Pro will start at $1,299 for the 8GB + 128GB bundle.
The Google Pixel 7 is very similar in design to the Pixel 7 Pro. However, its display is slightly smaller at 6.3 inches diagonally. It also has a lower FHD+ resolution and a lower 90Hz refresh rate than the Pro version.
Apart from this, there are other notable differences. For example, the Google Pixel 7 only has two main camera lenses. Its main sensor has a resolution of 50 megapixels. The second, 12-megapixel sensor has an ultra wide-angle lens. There is no telephoto lens here.
Like the Pixel 7 Pro, the Google Pixel 7 is powered by the same Tensor G2 processor. However, the phone is only offered with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Its battery capacity is reduced to 4355 mAh, although it supports the same 30W wired charging speed.
Google offers the Pixel 7 in three different colorways such as Obsidian, Lemongrass, and Snow. At home, it will cost just $999 for the 8GB + 128GB model.
