According to what has been leaked in these hours, it seems that Honor has decided to launch two foldable phones before the spring of next year.
Honor: what do we know about the two foldables?
It has long been rumored that the former Huawei sub-brand will launch foldable products. The brand itself has confirmed the code name Magic X belonging to a device with a folding panel. But now, a tipster suggests a release timing for, not one, but two of Honor’s special flagships.
According to Changan Digital King, Honor will launch two leaflets before spring in China. If all goes as planned, the first similar devices of the Chinese giant will be released in the first quarter of 2022.
According to the tipster, one of these phones will open up and down, while the other will open from left to right. In other words, the company will release clamshell and tablet-shaped devices, just like Samsung did with the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3.
Previous reports have suggested that Honor’s larger gadget will be similar to Huawei’s Mate X2. It is not surprising since almost all terminals launched by Honor after being sold by Huawei still resemble the products of its former parent company. This is mainly due to the fact that the development of these devices could have started when the two brands were under the same roof.
According to Ross Young of DSCC, Honor will use folding panels provided by BOE and Visionox. The tablet-style foldable is expected to sport an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch external screen.
The company was expected to release its first leaflet in the fourth quarter of the current year, but that doesn’t seem to be the direction now.
Finally, while the official names of these upcoming devices are a mystery, there is a chance they could be called the Magic Fold and Magic Wing, as per recent leaked patents. We’ll see.
