Google Pixel 7 Pro unveiled. Familiar design and no “wow”

Google introduced the seventh generation of branded Pixel smartphones. New items are not significantly different from their predecessors both externally and hardware. Breakthrough software features also did not appear, although there are plenty of small changes.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

The Pixel 7 Pro ditched the curved screen for a flat panel with thin bezels. The smartphone received a 6.7-inch POLED display with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels, a brightness of up to 1500 nits and support for LTPO technology, which allows you to dynamically adjust the refresh rate from 10 to 120 Hz.

On the reverse side, in a horizontal protruding block, there are three cameras: a 50 MP main camera with optical stabilization (OIS), a 12 MP ultra-wide angle with a viewing angle of 125.8 ° and a 48 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 4.8x optical zoom. The smartphone supports 30x digital Super Res Zoom with minimal loss of quality and shooting in macro mode. The front camera has a resolution of 10.8 megapixels and a fixed focus.

In terms of camera software chips, nothing has changed dramatically. The Magic Eraser function allows you to remove unnecessary objects from ready-made photos. There is also an automatic sharpening of faces in blurry pictures. Now you can shoot video in portrait mode with background blur.

The Pixel 7 Pro’s hardware platform uses the new Google Tensor G2 processor, made using a 4nm process technology. Judging by the tests that have already appeared , this chip is slightly faster than its predecessor. The smartphone also has a special Titan M2 coprocessor responsible for security. By the way, you can unlock the device both with the help of a sub-screen fingerprint scanner, and through the face recognition function.

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The capacity of the built-in battery is 5000 mAh. There is support for wireless charging. The package includes only a USB Type-C cable and a USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter for transferring data between devices. The smartphone is protected from water and dust according to the IP68 standard.

The regular Pixel received a 6.3-inch OLED screen with Full HD + resolution, brightness up to 1400 nits and a refresh rate up to 90 Hz. The cameras in it are the same as in the Pro version, with the exception of the telemodule – it is not in the base Pixel 7. Therefore, the maximum value of the digital Super Res Zoom is only 8x. There is also no macro mode in this model. The same Tensor G2 is used as a processor, but the amount of RAM is limited to 8 GB. The drive can be 128 or 256 GB. The battery capacity is 4355 mAh. The rest of the models are identical.

The Pixel 7 starts at $599 and the Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899.
